Temporary & Permanent Works
Excavation & Shoring
Safe, engineered excavation support for construction in challenging ground. Designed and monitored by our geotechnical engineers.
Supporting Safe Excavation
Deep excavations in BC's urban and coastal environments require careful engineering, particularly in areas with soft soils, high groundwater, or adjacent structures. Coast Geotechnical provides geotechnical design for temporary and permanent excavation support systems.
We work closely with contractors and structural engineers to design practical shoring solutions that protect workers, adjacent infrastructure, and the public during construction.
Not every excavation needs full shoring. One of our most common services is reviewing open trenches and advising whether soil conditions allow for unshored entry under WorkSafe BC regulations. When shoring is required, we design the appropriate system for your site.
Our designs comply with WorkSafe BC requirements and are sealed by a licensed geotechnical engineer.
Scope of Services
- Soldier pile and lagging wall design
- Sheet pile and secant pile wall design
- Soil nail wall design
- Tieback anchor design and testing
- Strut and raker system evaluation
- Groundwater management and dewatering advice
- Stability analysis for open cuts and slopes
- WorkSafe BC compliant designs
- Trench reviews for safe worker entry
How It Works
Geotechnical Assessment
We evaluate subsurface conditions, groundwater, and adjacent structures to inform shoring system selection and design parameters.
Shoring Design
Our engineers prepare sealed shoring drawings and specifications, coordinating with structural engineers and contractors as needed.
Construction Monitoring
We provide monitoring and engineering review during excavation to confirm performance and respond to changing conditions.
